In the beating heart of Palmas, in the state of Tocantins, in central Brazil, a vibrant space is born where spirituality and care for nature dance in perfect harmony.
The Anglican Communion Forest Prayer Garden is the wonderful result of the hope and dedication of the Anglican Parish of Christ the Redeemer! This project was conceived by its Rector, the Reverend Geraldo Magela, who affirms that “while the Parish of Christ the Redeemer dreams and works for the construction of its temple, it already celebrates the living presence of God in creation, integrating care for the health of God’s creation and the human beings who live in it.”
It is with great joy that we announce that the Prayer Garden is now located in a conservation area created as an initiative of the Communion Forest in the Anglican Diocese of Brasília!
This garden is a true oasis, with several trees native to the Brazilian cerrado. It is wonderful to know that this space will continue to stand as a green sanctuary amid the concrete of the city! It is an open invitation to contemplation, prayer, and care for life.
This project is incredible! It does not stop at spirituality inspired by creation, but goes further, welcoming students of all ages from public and private schools in the city of Palmas on educational visits. In this incredible space, they will not only learn everything about environmental preservation but also create bonds of love and respect for nature. And best of all? They will understand that health, faith, and care for creation are part of the same vibrant and life-filled path!
The Communion Forest Prayer Garden in Palmas, Tocantins is now a reality! It was the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Brasília, Dom Maurício de Andrade, who personally told us this excellent news: “Here, every tree, every flower, every prayer rises to the heavens as a sign that faith can—and must—be a seed of transformation for the world.”
